How to install a lock roof?

We have looked at a lock roof in a fine, old style. But how do you attach the cover board nicely to the underboards? Is there a description of the technique somewhere on the internet?

I used my nail gun, it's very discreet, but maybe you want it invisible?

Are you going to leave it wood-colored or will it be painted? If it's going to be painted, you could fill it in.

Unfortunately, I don't know any invisible method. Shooting nails in straight rows works for me.

The brad should work excellently. Another option is of course to do it the old way - i.e. to nail hand-forged nails into the lids. This variant is expensive but very nice. If the roof is going to be painted, it might still be fine with brad nails as they disappear when you paint over them.
