We had a carpenter here who expanded our bathroom and installed a door where there was previously a corridor. I’m now planning to fill and paint, but how should I solve the level difference between the old and new wall? It seems there is too much of a level difference (about 1 cm) for just filler. What can I use to fill it out? Tips are greatly appreciated!

  • A new bathroom door installed in a wall with visible drywall edges, highlighting a one-centimeter gap to be filled between old and new walls.
  • Close-up of a wall corner showing a 1 cm gap between an old and new wall with a ruler measuring the difference in levels.
  • Close-up of a wall showing the junction between old and new sections, with visible level difference and drywall screws securing a panel.
  • Partially renovated bathroom with plastic-covered door frame, showing level difference between old and new walls, plastic wrap, and renovation materials nearby.
  • A newly installed bathroom door with visible wall gap showing uneven levels between old and new walls. Radiator seen on the right.
Primer and a fiber-reinforced wall filler, screw tighter maximum 150mm apart.

Thank you so much. What difference does primer actually make? Is it the adhesion?

Also wondering what you meant by screw tighter?
