We have a staircase up to a loft with a sloped ceiling. I'm out of ideas on how to finish up on the loft. Currently, the stringers are sticking out as shown in the picture. How would you do it?

  • Wooden staircase ends at loft with sloping ceiling. Visible stringers protruding from herringbone floor. Planning ideas needed for completion.
I had cut it flush with the floor.

I have been thinking about it but I think it will look strange with the top stair nosing that will be "loose" at the top. One idea is to have a post on the high side.

Maybe mill out the bottom of the pole so the nose is hidden a bit?

Take a completely broader and longer step like a coronation.
But shouldn't there be some kind of railing?
Maybe it hides something with a post?
