I'm going to put up boards along the garage and I need to cut several with the same length.
I first thought about renting/buying a chop saw - but realize I don't have the need for it later - a bit overkill.
I should manage with the circular saw.
Now to the question - is there a simple way to get a stop so that I cut the same lengths all the time, even though I only have a circular saw?

pernitta is skilled at building accessories for her circular saws. Check out this thread:

hmmm get yourself a chop and mitre saw.
sure, you can use the circular saw but do the job right.
set up a gallows and measure a panel board.
cut them all to the resulting length.
then you stand them on the gallows and nail zigzag.

Also used the method of attaching a strip to the finished wall. Then it was just the circle with a 30-degree angle of the blade and presto, the wall was smooth and nice.
Then it's not a bad idea to have a miter saw either. 2X8" becomes effortlessly easy to saw and a joy to cut angles in.

I bought a cheap "Kellen" miter saw in the evening at COOP - and there was a big difference - so it's worth 995kr.
I guess it won't last very long - but I'm not going to cut that much, so it's good enough for me.
Much easier to get straight cuts...
