Well, if "bent-plywoodness" hadn't been mentioned, I would have guessed that he glued a large number of cut-out plywood profiles together and then sanded, sanded, sanded... :D
 
Hmmm... there are indeed veneers that look like end grain on plywood... flexible MDF and lots of such veneer, but how do you get the curve into the veneer press?
 
The striated look of these pieces is achieved by repeat laminations of a new eco-friendly plywood from Ecuador - sande. The resulting surface is one that just begs to be touched.
Sounds like one piece of plywood glued against the other.
 
Funny. I thought it was the ugliest table I’ve ever seen. Besides, it’s impractical. How do you clean in the indentation?

It’s a designer table, so it probably cost a fortune.

Look at the side. It’s not bent, but rather cut out. The grain is completely straight. They have cut out the shape from wood panels. Probably glued together unless they’ve used redwood, that is ;D Then they have glued all these hundreds of pieces together to get this result.
