We have torn down a wall, and in the ceiling where the wall previously stood, we now want to conceal the electrical wiring with some form of "beam"/U-list. An electrician has prepared the wiring. The plan is also to conceal the wiring along the wall and to build electrical outlets along the wall. Does anyone have suggestions on how we best construct the "beam"? Which materials? Tips on methods. Other solutions that are better/easier?

  • Exposed electrical wiring in wall recess after wall demolition, ceiling and wall showing unfinished plaster and wiring, ready for further construction work.
  • Ceiling with exposed wiring where a wall was removed, showing a conduit tube for electrical installation, seeking solutions to conceal wiring.
One can build a box/list in, for example, standing planed pine on each side + a wider molding on top. The above can usually also be purchased with white lacquer, in case you don't want/need to paint yourself.

Wouldn't it look nicer and be easier to just fill the gap instead of building something on top?

Do you need a beam for load-bearing function? Otherwise, I would have milled a little deeper so that the cabling goes inside the wall.
