Hello!

We are trying to build a ceiling with beadboard. Now the old ceiling is torn down, and the beadboard is exposed with loose fill insulation behind it that actually falls down between the boards.

We realize that we can't just frame and nail up the beadboard directly cause the insulation will continue to fall down between the boards.

What material should we use closest to the beadboard? Previously, there was roofing felt there.

We have been advised not to use building plastic because it is too airtight. Instead, we were supposed to use tarred felt. But... after installing windscreen AC 350 (asphalt felt for outdoor use), it doesn't feel right. Can you really use that indoors?

What should we use?

Anyone with a good suggestion?

Best regards,
Kalle

Wind barrier works excellently when placed against the roof; in old houses, the paper was used and it has worked well, so there shouldn't be any problems at all. Otherwise, you can just use cover paper if you want, as the function, as I understand it, is just to keep the sawdust in place so it doesn't fall down.
