Hello,

I need your help as I have no experience with plastering etc. My chimney is slightly cracked on the surface, see picture. What is the best way to repair this? My idea was to use husfix, is that correct or do you recommend something else?

When painting afterwards, is regular facade paint okay or do I need something special for plaster?

Grateful for your expertise :)

Kind regards,
Sulan

  • Cracked chimney surface, with visible damage, against a cloudy sky.
Tap away all loose material (also tap over the entire chimney and look for voids). Repair with C-bruk 1mm which you float to make the repairs invisible. Then paint the chimney with the same color it is already painted with, hopefully silicate paint or lime paint as plastic paint is unsuitable for chimneys that are used for fires.

Ok, thanks for the answer but can I get a little clarification

Look for bom - what is bom?

C-bruk = cement mix or? Is this available pre-mixed or do you buy and mix yourself?

Does "filtar" refer to the way it is applied and what does it mean, or is it just a special trowel?

I don't know which paint was used as I've only lived here for a year, I was thinking of using something like Demideck (water-based) since I have that in white, but it's probably best to use something you recommend then I guess.

Best regards,
Sulan

Bom = The plaster sounds hollow when you tap on it and must be knocked off.

C-bruk = Pre-mixed Rendering Mortar C 0-1mm fraction

You do filtar with a float:
A float tool for plastering, used to smooth surfaces, shown against a white background.

Absolutely no Demidekk or similar plastic paint on the chimney. You need to find out what type of paint is currently used, that totally dictates the choice of paint.
