Does anyone have tips on the best way to attach rope to a tarp? Metal grommet? Wrap rope around it but how to finish/secure?

A jungle trick is to take a pine cone, where the pressing is folded around and the string is tied so that the cone ends up entirely inside the pressing. It also works well with a small ball.

Learn some knots

C
The challenge is usually not how the rope is attached to the tarp, but how to anchor a tarp without everything being blown apart.

Was this kind of option I was thinking of... but how do you "end...?" Some kind of bracket?

  • Stainless steel rope thimble displayed on a website, used for securing rope ends with possible use of clamps.

Now I don't know at all what you're thinking with pressing and a kaus. The kaus in the picture is used and spliced with a rope around it.

What kind of tarp are you actually trying to fasten, and what is it supposed to be fastened to?

A kaus is used around a rope or wire where the loads and abrasion are significantly higher than what a regular thin tarp can withstand.

Yes, I know that and that it can be spliced. The ropes I tied to the tarp and secured with a stopper knot seemed a bit clunky to me. I would rather have a thimble through the grommet.

The tarp is of really heavy-duty quality.

A stopper knot? There are many good knots. A bowline for example. What do you need the tarp for?

bowline good tip even if it takes a bit more rope than figure-eight. the tarp should lie over the boat cradle in the harbor

Bowline at the end which is secured first and a half hitch on the standing part in the other as the latter can be tied under tension is how I do it in those cases.
