We have a balcony that is 3 m deep. We would like to extend it to 6 m. This means there will be a 3 m "overhang" in the front. The balcony is 6 m wide.
My plan is to extend the joists and place posts to support the overhang. Ideally, we want as few posts as possible since it will be an entrance underneath.
The idea is to enclose the balcony to create an extra room. The outermost meter we thought of making into a narrow "balcony" in front of the extension, so the center of gravity will be 2 meters from the existing building.
To my question: how close together and how sturdy do you think the posts need to be?
We live in Gävle snow zone 2.5.
