Considering adding a story to an extension that is currently single-story with a completely flat roof, while the rest of the house is 1 1/2 stories with a mansard roof. The idea is to buy ready-made mansard trusses and remove the flat roof, but what I'm wondering is how to make the connection to the existing roof. The new roof will be at a 90-degree angle to the old one and slightly lower at the ridge so that it won't be too dominant.

No one knows how to do this in a technically correct way?
Can you place the innermost rafter as close to the old house structure as possible and nail studs directly onto the sheathing of the old roof and struts to the new rafter, or do you need to fasten into the rafters? I would prefer to make as few modifications to the old framework as possible. I’ve searched for info online and bought some books, but none delve into the technical details.

Well, I don't see trusses as a big win to try to nail together myself if they don't cost more than just over a thousand each. I'll check with a manufacturer here in Stockholm, any tips? Found one in Rimbo but maybe there's something closer.
Pasting in...

You might be able to do so, but it might be a bit tricky with the ventilation there; I would try to attach to existing trusses and open up between the undertakings.
Don't forget flashing under the roofing felt and then place the visible valleys on the battens.
Quite often one sees some issues right here, which is why I mention it.
