How should I cut the ceiling molding?
Hello!
I'm in the process of putting up crown molding in the living room. Everything has gone great until now. Now I've encountered a corner that I don't know how to handle. It's driving me crazy trying to cut test pieces, but I can't get it to work.
I only have a miter box for 45 & 90 degrees. Unfortunately, I don't have access to a miter saw either.
Should I try to find the angle with some tool and attempt to mark the molding and cut without the miter box?
I'm a happy amateur who preferably wants to solve this on my own without bringing in a carpenter, if possible...
Thanks a lot in advance for any tips I can get.

There is a gadget that is supposed to solve this problem. I haven't tested it myself, but it looks reasonable.

OK, I see you have other angles in your corners, so the Listjiggen probably won't work then.

Poor image with a shadow right in the corner, so I'm not quite sure what your problem is. It looks like you have a 45-degree angle in the corner. In that case, your angles should just be halved to 22.5 degrees. The simplest way is to saw a new groove in the miter box. Or to screw together your own miter box where you saw such a template.
But it also looks like there's another molding on the ceiling over the window. It depends a bit on how you want it there.

Apologies for the poor picture, I took it hastily on my way to work this morning. I'll try to take a better one during the day.A AG A said:Poor image with shadow right in the corner, so I'm not really sure what issue you have. But it also looks like there's another strip in the ceiling over the window as well. It depends a bit on how you want it there.
But I think it's as you say, 22.5, will try to halve the 45 and cut a new groove in the box. Thanks for the tip!
Regarding what looks like a strip, it's just a curtain ceiling track.
