The carpenter who was here probably didn't have a drywall lift, the drywall sheets are screwed to the wall standing on the floor. Above one sheet towards the ceiling, there is now a gap/crack of about 7-11 mm.

Is this a problem for spackling and painting, i.e., should I reposition the drywall? Or will the painter take care of this?

You should plaster between the board and the ceiling.
Aren't you going to have a molding there?

Yes, that is probably covered by the cornice?

What function would a plasterboard lift have on wall plaster?

If you are not planning to have ceiling moldings, it might be good to let the carpenter know before they start screwing the drywall.

TS probably means a foot lift, you're thinking of a panel lift I suspect?

No ceiling moldings anywhere in the house, and it's just one board with this much gap on the wall in question; the others have maybe a 3-4 mm gap. Should I reposition the drywall and press it up against the ceiling?

YES, better to have the gap at the floor.

Yes, that's how I've done it with all the other walls I've made myself, to allow the floor to move. What I'm wondering here is if it's possible to make it look good against the ceiling or if it will crack immediately?

If you plaster in corner beads, there are no problems

"My" painter said that there should be a maximum gap of 5mm if you want to ensure that it doesn't crack. I would lift the board just to be safe.

Thanks, then I'll install a new drywall; it feels like I've redone most of what the builders have done.
