Hi, I want to build a staircase up to a mezzanine (loft walk at 80cm) but have limited space.

I'm considering an L-shaped staircase, but need help calculating how many steps there will be and the step depth and height.

From the floor to the mezzanine is 2.40 meters. The fixed length of the stairs can be a maximum of 1.35 meters.

Can some kind soul help calculate this? I want to know if it will be very steep and dangerous to walk on (and if it has to be a spiral staircase after all in the end).

Try this page, I've used it when I made a staircase.
Just click in the measurements and experiment until you get a comfortable staircase to walk on.

Thanks, what a great tool. But it looks like it will be a very steep staircase.

The best I have come up with is a staircase with a 58-degree incline compared to the recommended 45.
The result is: a relatively comfortable staircase.
Diagram of a stair design with a 58-degree angle, 9 steps, and measurements in millimeters. Comparison with recommended 45-degree angle.

Thank you very much! That looks much better than what I came up with.
