If they didn't fetch the scaffolding from Stockholm but from the neighboring village (in Skåne), the loading wouldn't take many hours either.

Dispute the entire invoice. No fall protection, inadequate stairs without a handrail. What clown built this? Stand your ground. They won't get far.

I bought my own Haki when I was renovating my house, and I didn't manage to sell it before I bought my next house where it was used for the roof renovation. Now, the scaffolding has been set up again at the 3rd house, and as the plans look for the future, there will probably be one last house after this, and my scaffolding has cost less than what you've been swindled out of and is enough for at least 2 rounds around your little cottage...

What kind of agreement do you have?
Normally, you either work with a fixed price - action X = Y currency, or a variable price - X hours at Y currency.
Variable pricing applies to actually worked hours.
In any case, the practice is to pay after the work is completed.

Here it feels like you're expected to pay for 20 hours in advance? Regardless of how long the action actually takes?

That’s a real rip-off... I believe your roofing contractor is getting a 50-70% payback on it, or another larger job they got scaffolding set up for has been billed to you, sadly.
