Hi!

One of the posts in my stair railing has rotted in the wood and needs replacement. However, I'm wondering if anyone has seen this construction as a prefab or if it might have been made by the carpenter on site? It is a steel post mounted in the staircase around which a wooden post is built. I can't find anything similar with a quick online search. Grateful for any input on this construction. I think the pictures explain it. A hand holding a partially hollow wooden post with screws, possibly part of a stair railing that needs replacement due to rot. Brick path and grass in the background. A wooden stair railing post with visible rot, connected to a steel post at the base, positioned on a stone-paved outdoor stairway. Staircase with a rotten wooden post surrounding a metal post, part of a stair railing.

It is made of four parts, partly the loose part (two pieces) and partly two square rods.

The loose part can be made with a router.
