How do I resolve wood construction around chimney??

When I had a fire safety inspection last winter, the inspector also noted on paneling that was against the chimney. It was an insulated steel chimney. There should be 50 mm between the floor and ceiling boards and the chimney. So I had to cut around it. [image]

Maybe there are different rules for brick and metal chimneys; I was told that non-load-bearing wood was OK. Not that chimney sweeps usually have much of a clue. If you want five different answers, talk to five different chimney sweeps.

For clear answers, I usually check with the office lady at Brandförebyggarna in Visby. She is well-informed.

Yes, there are sheets that came with the chimney. But I photographed without the cover plate to be able to show the inspector that it was fixed as he wanted.
