Hello,

I am in the process of removing a load-bearing wall and need to reinforce the ceiling beam so that the roof does not sag.

Fortunately, there are two load-bearing walls running parallel to the ceiling beam. I have therefore hung the ceiling beam on the wall plate and then spanned it across the load-bearing walls. The ceiling beam is only 53 cm from the support, so the load should be minimal.

Directly above the wall I am removing, the beams are spliced (see red box in the image). Today, there is only one nail holding them together, so that will not work.

How can I reinforce this joint so that the roof does not start sagging?
The floor joists are 22 cm high and 5 cm wide. The next support is 5 m away.

Per
