We have an ugly and worn concrete staircase to the porch, I would like to freshen it up but don't know how to approach it. Can you sand and paint it? Is it better to go for some type of tiles? All suggestions and ideas are gratefully received!

  • Worn concrete porch steps leading to a front door, surrounded by yellow wooden siding and white railings.
  • Worn concrete stairs leading to a yellow painted wall, showing signs of aging and weathering.
Paint it with sand grains so it doesn't become so slippery?
I once plastered stairs with C-bruk with good results.

I renovated mine with Dura Trapp many years ago (10+). It turned out really nice and still holds up. I see that the price has gone up but it's all relative.

I would like to add that it is a great product.
The stairs I used this on 10 years ago.
Still look good, just used it now on the concrete walls around.
The stairs will be done later.

You definitely should not use C mortar on a staircase.
Perhaps Weber 995

I used it yesterday, good product, but not entirely simple.
However, you must pressure wash the staircase before using it.
Oh yes, C mortar is perfectly fine to use.

A mortar is used on a concrete staircase.
If you don't understand better, you should not speak up.
C mortar is used on facades, not on concrete.

It is fine to use C bruk on a staircase. That's what Finja recommended to me and it's what I used for plastering with good results, and it lasted for several years and is likely still holding today. But sure, by all means, use something else if they recommend it.

Then finja are idiots.
If you have any knowledge of mortar, you cannot recommend it.
It's sad that people are being deceived by finja.

Sure, C-bruk can be used just fine.
No, that's not a good idea. C-bruk can be used for walls.
