Hello everyone!

I'm wondering how we should go about building a trellis for our basement stairs. Is there a strip to attach to the ceiling that you screw the battens into, or how do you do it otherwise? And which battens should be used? We have a one-year-old who runs around, so we also need to be able to attach a gate at the bottom. Ceiling height about 210.

Thankful for all input!

Basement staircase with white steps and a wooden handrail on the right side, leading upwards. The area is enclosed with a low ceiling.

Two wooden beams screwed together, forming a right angle suitable for attaching trellis slats.
A picture is worth a thousand words?

Maybe you can do something similar?
Screw together two beams/strips and screw up to the ceiling.
Then screw the trellis slats into this and into the staircase's vangstycke.

There is plenty of useful information if you google "spalje trappa": [link]:

Remember to set the spindles and other elements closely enough: [link]
Thank you so much! I will check it out :)
