Made a hole for a portable AC a few years ago. Or rather, two holes, the first hit a fat regle...

Now I want to patch it up. Tips on how to do it best?

Best regards, thumb pretty much in the middle of the palm.

  • Hole in wall with insulation material visible, possibly made for a portable AC unit, with a cable passing through.
Insert some small wooden dowel that you screw into the existing wall.
Drill with the same drill bit as last time into a new drywall.
Screw the round piece into the wood piece.
Spackle and paint.

Good tips.
You can simplify the "plug," which is to be screwed in, by cutting an octagonal piece of drywall from a larger piece and breaking away the drywall to get a good transition to fill over. I did this the last time I patched a hole
Octagonal piece of drywall cut out, shown on a larger sheet, used for patching holes with putty for seamless blending in construction projects.
A little filler on the edges of the octagon to adhere and seal against the sides of the round hole.
