My partner and I really don't know anything, so it's lucky we bought turnkey. Now we have plans not to put tiles in the kitchen but instead use horizontal tongue and groove paneling, which we will paint white. What I'm wondering is:

- What kind of trim do you use if the horizontal paneling is going to end in the middle of a wall (the kitchen covers half a wall and then it's a regular white painted wall). We want the paneling under the kitchen cabinets, like where the tiles would have been; they won't be exposed to water because we have a window by the sink.

- We have 10 cm between the windows and the upper cabinets, and this section should have paneling. Is it tricky to saw such a panel board lengthwise to get the right measurements?

- We only have drywall... how is the paneling best attached? Find the studs or?

- Should the paneling be painted before or after installation?

Huge thanks if you knowledgeable folks want to help us :-)

Oh, I forgot: Do you install the paneling first and then the upper cabinets if you want the paneling all the way up to the ceiling???

Have you bought turnkey but without a kitchen?? You can install the paneling before or after the cabinets, it's a bit of a personal preference. I would have installed it afterwards, but won't it look strange if the panel ends where the cabinets end?? If so, you might as well put raw pine behind the base cabinets too, then you might as well clad the entire wall before you install the kitchen, make sure there's room for plumbing and such.

Are you not putting raw pine between the window and cabinets?
You can attach it with a variety of things, in your case I would probably glue it to avoid visible screws.
Paint it before you put it up and once more when it's in place.
I don't know which trim to use, you'll probably need to go to a well-stocked hardware store and see what's available!
