Hello, we live in a house that is about 120 years old with a crawl space. There are some small holes in the foundation that I'm wondering if it's something that should be sealed. We have no issues with mold in the house, it can be added.

  • Close-up of a house foundation with small gaps between stones, surrounded by soil and sprouting plants.
  • A small hole in the foundation of an old house with grass surrounding the area.

It's probably just good for ventilation.

It is often said that if nothing has gone wrong in 120 years, it will work for another 120 years. But as soon as you change any condition, problems can arise.

However, you have a nice entrance for various pests and plenty of surface water that can get in.

An old croft foundation? I would say that doesn't even count as a hole in that context...
