Hello,

Background
In my eagerness to move our router, I bought a pull wire to try to figure out how the house's phone jacks are connected. Of course, I bought the longest one - 25 meters. Fed and fed, the entire wire fit, which it shouldn't since it's at most 12 meters to the next outlet. Frustrated, I tried to wiggle the box where the cable came up through, and it turns out that the hole in the box wasn't connected to the conduit -> in other words, I have inserted 25 meters of pull wire into the wall. Hopefully, it hasn't caused any major damage...

Questions
To get the pull wire out and be able to pull the data cable through, I need to open up a larger hole. How do I do this in the easiest way (reciprocating saw, knife)?

How do I repair the hole and place the box in it?

Many thanks in advance!

Hi! I don't think there's any major damage in there. Can't you get the spring out by spinning it while pulling?

To open the wall, I would have used a multi-tool, just don't go too deep into the wall.

Surely more people will come with tips. Good luck!

To open the wall, I would use a multi-tool as long as you don't go too deep into the wall.

Thanks for the response! The spring has managed to tie itself in a knot back there (literally). I still need to try to reach the pipe with the telephone cables, so unfortunately, I have to open it up.
