Hello!
I have built a wooden deck that, among other things, covers a basement staircase with a section (2x0.8m) in the deck as a hatch over the stairs. The hatch is heavy (about 25kg) as it needs to support various people standing on it safely. I am now looking for hinges for the short side of the hatch (to later complement with a pair of gas cylinders to help lift the hatch). The problem is that the hinges also need to lift the back edge of the hatch (the hinge side) slightly so that it clears the underlying part of the deck. I have seen such “bent” hinges but for significantly lower loads, so does anyone know a solution?

I had the same problem myself and here's how the solution turned out. Trunk hinges from an older Audi 100, it turned out awesome and became something that impresses people who see the solution. It lifts at the back edge as the hatch is a few cm. Regular hinges wouldn't have worked then. I installed it myself and it was a hassle, so be two. One under the hatch and one above to guide.G Gammaray said:Hello!
