I'm stuck and need some input.
I need to mount a semi-heavy (17kg) item on a drywall in the house. The wall consists of a single layer of drywall, so far no problem. The challenge is that the electrical panel is mounted on this wall from the backside. If I measure from the outside of the wall, I have 25mm to the back of the electrical panel (about 12mm of space, that is). I've tried various drywall anchors, but either they don't fasten/expand, or they tear the wall apart (metal drywall anchor the fourth).
This is probably because I don't have enough space to get the unexpanded anchor in before I tighten with the pliers.
Of course, I'd be happy if I could avoid removing the electrical panel to place a wooden board behind it, even though that would have been the best solution.
Do I dare to "loosen" the electrical panel and hope the wires have some slack, so I can pull it out 5cm? If this were possible, I would of course have enough space to mount the metal drywall anchor correctly, assuming I find one that builds a maximum of 12mm backward.
Grateful for any suggestions.
