A big problem. We have a staircase in the middle of the living room, open floor plan. Kitchen in oak and floors in both kitchen and living room and hall are stone floors (anthracite). I've looked at an oak staircase but it's enormously expensive. Still, I think oak is almost the only thing that could match. Is there anything else that can be oiled, varnished, or fixed up that is cheaper and that looks like oak or another type of wood that would fit in? All ideas are welcome, quite desperate right now.
