Dimensioning of HEA Beam / Glulam Beam
Hello!
We are planning to renovate the downstairs here after the summer and have some plans to tear down some load-bearing walls to achieve a more "open" floor plan.
See the picture below.
Number 1:
Tear down a load-bearing interior wall, about 4000mm between the kitchen and the living room. What is needed for the beam? I prefer to over-dimension and be sure it holds. We will probably go with HEA as the glulam beam builds down a lot...
Number 2:
Tear down a load-bearing outer wall. Today, we have a window section about 3500mm long. We want to remove this and install an openable facade section instead. IF possible, we would like to have this all the way to the other window and pull it away a bit from the patio door. This is about a 6000mm long facade section. Is this even possible? Is there a beam that can handle this? What is needed?
Grateful for any answers!

Hello and welcome to the Byggahus forum!
Much more information is needed for an assessment. Proper drawings are especially required, not realtor drawings of the above type. A sectional drawing is particularly important. Additionally, information about the location, year of construction, and construction method is needed.

Okay! I'll get the drawings I have and upload them soon!
