I have a wall that has started to deteriorate. The wall seems to be cast with cement?-sand+stone and there are large boulders on the front. It's supposed to look like it's laid with stones but it's kind of a cheat... It has started to fall apart and the cement looks mostly like sand in several places and just a tap makes it fall off... how do I best repair this?

Old stone wall with crumbling cement, resembling stacked stones. The wall, dated 50-70 years, shows signs of wear and decay amidst a natural setting.
ps. the wall is from when we had trains on Gotland, so maybe 50-70 years old

It's probably just the hard way, tear everything down, clean it up, and then rebuild with bricks.

That doesn't sound fun... don't you think you can cement the stones so it at least looks nice from the front?

I don't think you'll ever get new cement to bond with the old.

All the cement is leached out of the wall, so it will just collapse somewhere else if you manage to put what's missing now.

Hmm... then I'll have to forget about it :) I'll fix something else that's broken, like the garage floor or build a grill.
