Hello
I live in a relatively newly built house, 4 years old, where unfortunately the builder has been bankrupt for a long time. Our staircase has slowly started to come apart, especially in the curve of the L-shaped staircase, both towards the wall and out towards the open part. Now the gap is about 1/2 cm, and we would like to push the staircase back together.

How should we proceed?

The steps are screwed and it is possible to remove the plug covering them, but it's several cm in to the screw head (insect head). How can we reach it with a tool that has the power to turn the screw? Is there some kind of extension for the power drill? Or are special tools needed?

And how on earth do you deal with the step against the wall that has started to come loose, where you can't reach the screw at all?

Do we have to dismantle the staircase? Or can some kind of temporary fix be done?
Does a staircase specialist need to be called in?

Calm down! You just have to screw it back together. A regular screwdriver works fine, but you can get torque in many ways if needed, e.g., power drill, adjustable wrench on the shaft if it's not round, and torque wrench. There are plenty of bits, bit extenders, and adapters available at any hardware store. Take the opportunity to apply wood glue while you're at it to avoid future problems and squeaks, creaks. /CC
