I give up. I'm going to build a stair railing to the upper floor but can't find lumber with rounded edges that should function as the spindles in the railing.
I'm thinking dimensions maybe 30 x 45 or 30 x 40 or something similar. It's not that critical.
It seems strange that you have to special order through a carpentry shop to find a board with rounded corners!
Please help me...

Unfortunately, what you're looking for isn't available, so you'll have to make it yourself or have someone do it for you. The easiest way would be to buy planed timber according to your measurements and preferences, then get a hand router along with a radius bit and start routing - It actually goes pretty quickly and a pass with 120 or 180 grit paper afterward gives a very nice result.

fast enough I seem to remember seeing material for railings somewhere. maybe not by the meter in that way but perhaps more with those who sell railings of various kinds.
Of course, there are ready-made products, but whether what TS is looking for is available and economically viable is doubtful. 30x45 or 30x40 with rounded corners is not something I've seen at least.Stefan1972 said:
I made a handrail for a staircase last week, found ready-made ones at a cost of 795:- for 2.5m, but I needed 4.2m. Purchased planed timber (almost knot-free) and after a couple of passes with the router, I had a handrail made for under 300 bucks that was also seamless.
Also made a trellis for the same staircase with planed timber at a very reasonable cost.
Yes, Lundbergs does have pre-made spindles, but they are either turned or milled in a way that they can't be cut to fit under the sloped ceiling the last bit. I think I'll buy PHL in the desired measurement and round off the corners with my mini sander from Rusta. Not so professional, but hey
I'd rather work with that than sit around calling for ready-made round edges. Thanks for the help!

What did the router cost then?slacker said:Sure, there are ready-made products, but whether they have what the original poster is looking for and if it's economically viable is doubtful. 30x45 or 30x40 with rounded corners is something I haven't seen, at least.
