Hi,

I'm looking for a solution that will work well for our new kitchen. I will be laying a 22mm grooved chipboard as a subfloor with underfloor heating, and on top of that, I have bought Forbo's linoleum click-flooring (30x30). The flooring manufacturer recommended that we install a floating floor between the chipboard and this click-flooring because the grooves in the chipboard make the click-flooring unsteady.

I'm now looking for a thin floor that I can place between the click-flooring and the chipboard. I'm considering an HDF board that I could screw (and possibly glue) onto the chipboard. These are available in 3mm, which would level with the hallway floor. Is this advisable, or should I look for other options? Forbo sells tongue-and-groove HDF boards for this purpose, I think they were 8mm, but I’d like to find a cheaper alternative that builds less thickness. Is this a bad idea?

Grateful for your response.

//Micke
