I'm considering screwing 2 double hooks with screws into the ceiling (see pictures) to hang shovels and crowbars. However, I'm doubtful about how much weight this can handle since the load on the screw will be directly downward. Does anyone know how durable it is when you screw hooks into ceiling tiles?

  • A screw partially inserted into a wooden ceiling with gardening tools visible below, raising questions about weight support for hanging items.
  • Hand holding a double hook mounted in a wooden ceiling, demonstrating installation for hanging tools like spades. Circular window and tools visible in the room.

Roof tiles? I assume you mean roof rafter. I think it will support an adult's body weight. However, the hook in the picture might not. I would pre-drill for that screw.

Do you mean in the ceiling joist?

It should hold a lot of weight.

Yes, in the ceiling beam. I estimate that what I plan to hang has a total weight of around 10-12kg.

No weight worth mentioning. I hang bikes like that with worse mounting.

Absolutely.

Half-length screws and there's absolutely no problem hanging up as much as the rörkrok can handle.
