I am in the process of building my woodshed. (A bit late in the season...) The floor consists of 145x45 joists with a span of 1.5 meters. The distance between each floor joist is 60 cm. The joists are supported by joist hangers that are secured with two French wood screws to each joist hanger. There are holes to use four screws. My question is simply whether you need four screws or if you can count on two screws holding the weight of a woodpile, which is admittedly quite heavy. I have absolutely no desire to rebuild a collapsed floor again.

There are four screw holes and 8 nail holes. Do you mean that all must be used? Sounds a bit overkill in this context?

Ah, with the right thickness and screw length, it will hold excellently. It is likely that there is more risk of the screw being pulled out than shearing off. The reason for prescribing all the holes is to meet their strength calculations, which likely rely on maximum load. Gunnebo, for example, only has two screw holes in total, and 14 nail holes in total.
