Hello!

I have an old CRT projector that I would like to mount on the ceiling. I've tried using one of those stud finders from B&D, but I'm not confident about this at all.
How can I be sure there are really studs there?

What other material is in the ceiling? Gypsum?

I think it's plaster. Possibly sawdust or something similar. The apartment building is from 1850-something and renovated in the early '80s.

Unfortunately, I don't have an answer to the question. But I'm curious about what projector you have. I've gone through two myself... one mounted with an expander in a concrete ceiling and the other in wooden beams (but there was a cold attic above so I could see from above where there was good wood to screw into).

Tried to help a buddy once to set up his Barco with 9" tubes on the ceiling in an 1800s apartment. Turned out there was reed behind the plaster, so it was impossible to mount the 90kg projector on the ceiling there.

Hello,
It's a Nec Pg6 xtra. Compact model ;)

It would be nice to have on the ceiling, but I'm unsure.
