I have an old cast iron gate that I would like to hang again. The gate is still there and the gate posts as well. However, I am missing the actual "pins" to hang the gate on, holes in the gate post exist. Does anyone know if such items are available ready to buy? I've searched online but can't find any. If not, I have considered buying a threaded round rod and bending it? It would probably need to be hot-bent then? Do you think that would work? That way, I can adjust the length and secure it with washers and bolts at a suitable spot.

If there are through holes in the gate post, threaded rod is not a bad alternative. Where the gate is to be hung, weld a round bar or a piece of rebar at a 90-degree angle to the threaded rod. A washer is welded at the bottom of the rod or rebar. Washers against the post on each side and nuts, of course. This also gives you the ability to adjust the hanging of the gate if the post itself shifts slightly. I have this exact setup on my old wooden gates which I tar every year. Gate posts made from old telephone poles which are also tarred. Smells nice when you pass in or out 
I would contact a company to make sure it's done nicely. Call and check with a gate company; even if they don't have a solution on their website, they can probably help you. Contact someone near you or, for example, Accessa AB, http://www.accessa.se. Hope you find a solution.
