Hi, want to set up my hammock indoors. We don't think a hook in the wall will hold. Considering this construction in sheet/metal. I have brothers in welding who can help me, but they're unsure if it will hold. Planning to screw it into the stud in the wall. Living in a mexitegel house from 1976.
It would be better to place an L-iron horizontally between two wall studs. If your brothers are professional welders, ask them to weld an eyelet, otherwise use a threaded eyelet and a locknut.
We installed hammock hooks in all the bedrooms in mom's house. Made sure the hooks were placed in the wall studs and it has worked perfectly! So if you have wooden studs in the walls and can adjust the location of the hammock, that's the easiest way.
Get a stand, they are also available in wood.
But if you're going for a fixed construction, a flat bar that's only 5 mm thick won't hold, or rather, any iron under 1.5 meters in height is of no use.
Start with something that weighs less, such as a square tube 40x40x2 mm, 1 meter long, with a loop in the middle.
It can also be mounted horizontally and attached to two beams.
