Bought my first and last package today. I had to buy a pack of 6X120 for my outdoor space because my others were starting to run out. The fit in the head was the worst I've experienced; I thought I had taken the wrong bit, but nope, it was right. Out of about 30 screws, I broke 5. I've driven around 200 before and haven't broken a single one using the same driver the whole time. Was I unlucky or are they really that bad, and they weren't cheap either.
I bought Gunnebo anchor screws to fasten all the angle brackets when I built a shed this summer (well, I'm still working on it but anyway)
it was the worst crap I've bought in a long time for such a high price q(;^
p I have a package lying around because I went and bought esswe's instead, dramatic difference.l
I changed bits twice before I realized that the screw head was worthless :@

You must have had bad luck with Gunnebo's...
I have personally tried most of their screws and they are really, really good. It takes a lot for them to break or bend or something. The most important thing is, of course, to use the right screw for the purpose. Therefore, I am very satisfied with Gunnebo.
...or maybe I'm the one who has had incredible luck

I am extremely satisfied with Gunnebo, Essve, and Grabber, they have worked insanely well for me.
However, it's been overall worse with Byggmax and Biltema.
Harald Nyborg has worked well though, so not all budget screws are rubbish.
Oftentimes it's the slightly weaker or stainless steel screws (soft!) that are useless if you buy cheaper, from what I've experienced anyhow.

It has never happened when I bought essve and grabber but as soon as I bought gunnebo, so I'm staying away from gunnebo for now.SBH said:
I mean, Gunnebo is generally considered a quality brand. You must have gotten a bad delivery.Jan-Å said:
If someone had said this about cheap ByggMax screws, ok, it sounds credible. But that the super expensive Gunnebo would have poor quality all the way through?
I'm pretty sure you were unlucky and got a bad batch.
The ByggMax screws are, by the way, totally worthless, to be honest.
I think a quality brand should not let a bad batch through. I'm not just paying for a good screw. I'm paying for it to be good in every package. Quality is about checking your products over and over again. Gunnebo has apparently missed that!
On 2 different occasions, J.B and I purchased 2 different types of screws, J.B shopped in Skåne, I shopped at Beijers in Uppsala, and we both bought crap. Which NEVER happened to me with either Grabber or Essve that I've bought various types of during all the years I've been building houses. Sure, we might have been unlucky with a bad batch from just Gunnebo, but as I said, Gunnebo is crap in my eyes anyway based on the above reasoning.
I would never even think about buying cheap screws from Byggmax, bad tools and bad materials make the job dull, difficult, and slow q(;^

Gunnebo's decking screw is among the worst tested by Testfakta at the SP assignment.

It states, among other things, that one in four screws has poor bit grooves. (25% do not fit bits). In 2-3 packs of 250 pieces, there might be one such screw. That's my experience, anyway.verktygsgurun said:
So it's one in 500-750 screws, which isn't much. And I've used maaaany thousands of these screws.
The Torx bits that come with them are really good. Incredibly good fit and hardly wear out.
Now I'm talking about the Impreg screws and can add that Gunnebo's stainless ones have even better bit fit. Really good.
If the fit is poor on Impreg screws, it is likely because too much "Impreg" fluid has gotten into the bit groove during manufacture.
Hello!
I searched for Gunnebo online and all I found were old threads from around 2010. Anyway, I bought timber and screws from a better specialty store for a decking project and had aimed for Essve's decking screws for the job. But I let the construction store include suitable A4 acid-resistant decking screws and got 1000 screws from Gunnebo. I got really nervous when all the information I found online was about the bad test in Testfakta and various agreements on construction forums.
But I can gladly report that after laying just over 30 square meters of decking this weekend and driving in around 900 screws, I haven't had a single screw with poor fit or quality. Every screw has gone in, and the bits haven't worn out. The same applies to a box of 250 anchor screws (impreg+) that I supplemented my 750 from Essve with. No problems at all, neither with fit nor anything else. I can agree that the bits maintain good quality for being included, and my non-special Bosch bits have held up the entire way. 2 bits have driven about 2000 screws in a few days, more than half of which were from Gunnebo, and both bits are going back into the bits case.

Gunnebo has really good screws and fastening materials. If Gunnebo got bad results in tests, it must have been a temporary problem.A Awesome_Pat said:Hello!

The Torx bits that come with their deck screws are incredibly good. At least those that say "Made in Germany" on them. They last forever and have exceptionally good fit!
