Grout for sealing gap in brick wall
Between the old part of the house and a section that was extended in the 60s, a gap of a few centimeters has developed over time. This was filled by the previous owner 20-30 years ago with some type of compound.
It has shifted a bit since then, and the compound has dried, leaving a gap beside the compound. Therefore, I would like to remove the existing compound and apply new compound.
The question is, what type of compound should be used? It is hardly a regular silicone tube, but rather something more substantial.
I have considered afterwards putting a metal strip to cover the seam, but something is needed to prevent drafts from getting into the wall as well.

Thanks! I will check out the options.
