How do you install a ground anchor like the one in the picture with simple means in the ground without digging all day?

Can't you just knock it down with a board as a spacer?
 
You hit it with a sledgehammer. Insert a block that fits so you don't break the ground anchor. You shouldn't need to dig anything.

I have tried that. Two wooden blocks broke plus the handle of the hammer. And then I had only gotten it down 15 cm!
No stones in the way, just hard soil.
 
I saw at Bauhaus that there are customized plastic blocks to use when using a sledgehammer. They might hold up better than wooden blocks.
 
If there is no stone, this must be driven down with hammer blows.
