Hello!

I am trying to figure out how to build my garage. The frame will be made of wood, and I have attached one example of what I have in mind.

Light blue color - for trusses, I plan to use either sawn timber 50*125 mm or planed timber 45*145 mm.

Yellow color - for the frame, I intend to use 125*125 mm. I assume this is on the high side and probably quite expensive, but it should be very stable.

Green color - The sill plate, I plan to use AB-impregnated sawn timber 125*125 mm.

I would be very grateful if someone, or preferably several people, could give their opinions on my choices and ideas. Maybe I have dimensioned it too weakly or far too thickly? Maybe my measurements for the spacing between trusses and studs are too wide? All feedback is welcome! Note that no noggings are drawn in.

Thank you so much in advance,
Fredrik

Hmm weird ... why did the image become small?

Hope the measurements are still visible!

Are you really going to use 125x125? That sounds very rough. The trusses are difficult to comment on. It's most appropriate to have someone calculate them. You might buy them ready-made, and then they are properly dimensioned.

I would reconsider the framework.

This for a few different reasons, 1. The insulation is designed for 45mm studs cc 60 so you'll save a lot of hassle there. 2. It will definitely be cheaper, 3. You follow construction standards. 4. You avoid the quite massive thermal bridges that 125X125 would create.

You can handle the stability by adding a couple of cross braces to lock the construction. If you want to make it even sturdier, you can insert, for example, a lying one under the top plate 45X145.

Hello!

You really gave me something to think about!

Thank you!
