Planning to take down a load-bearing wall in a 1940s house with 3 floors, including a basement, between the ground and upper floor. The kitchen is so cramped that we've thought of taking space from a bedroom on the ground floor where there's a 3.6m load-bearing wall to be removed. Considering using two 2x6s glued and screwed together, would that be enough? Also, how to cover up where the wall stood on the floor. I'm a novice but absolutely not worried about testing it out.

Section drawings and when the house was built are also good. Additionally, you need to know which snow zone the house is in since a lot of snow means a heavier roof.
