I want to glue slate tiles to a wall, is there a good adhesive or cement to do that?

I found this link:

Scroll down to the bottom of the page and there are some pictures.
If you read the posts on the forum in the link, the stones are attached with some sort of adhesive, is there a Swedish equivalent?

I was planning to use really rough natural stone so it will become quite a bit thicker than tiles, and therefore weigh more, what should be used to make sure the tiles really stick? You don't want to get any of them on your head...

Tremco has a new stone adhesive. It's awesome!

Thanks for the response!
I had difficulty finding a suitable product on Tremco's website. Do you know what the stone adhesive is called?

I will need an adhesive with a great ability to fill, as the stones will be quite rough and uneven. So I think what I need is more towards cement/mortar than a pure adhesive. Or would it be okay to just use some type of mounting adhesive?

Another question: Is gypsum enough behind the stones, or should one use something stronger, like cement-based boards?

It's called PL700 check with a local hardware/building supply store (revex if you live nearby) and they can show you the product. Tremco's page was difficult... It works like a sealant foam or like a PU wood glue. Expands. It is intended for stone and lecablock. So it should work. Drywall does not carry the weight of your slate tiles if I have to guess. Call Tremco and ask.

Hello JonathanGubbe.
I just made such a wall, see picture.
I was worried about the load-bearing capacity of the drywall so I started by screwing up a galvanized mesh that I bought cheaply at Biltema. You can use plaster mesh as well, but it's much more expensive. I stretched the mesh from ceiling to floor by driving sturdy washer screws into the studs. I used regular fix and started by applying a layer on the mesh, then on the slate tiles. It holds up great now and the wall is significantly reinforced with the mesh and fix mortar.
Good luck!
