Building up a barn that burned down in 2004 for the previous owner. Dimensions 6x20.4, c/c 1.2m. Have bought ready-made trusses (4 pcs), but plan to build the rest myself. I have a lot of sawn wood, one inch thick with widths up to 7 inches. Now to the question, I plan to glue and screw two pieces together for the trusses (37 degrees) to make it 2x7 inches. Should I plane the surfaces before gluing or does it adhere better with rough surfaces? Metal roof with battens, also glued and screwed 2x3 inches c/c 40cm. I plan to use one of the bought trusses as a template. Doing this, of course, to make the construction cheap to erect, the pension doesn't cover much these days.
