I have glued plasterboards with plaster adhesive. Admittedly against plaster and brick, but it should work plaster against plaster as well. It is also cheap.
Seems to be quite good. Went with two 70-regels as you said. Feels like it was necessary. Wouldn't have gotten enough pressing area with just one regel.
I also had some thoughts on which glue to use. I decided to try regular wood glue first. If that didn't work, I would move on to some other setting glue that I also had at home.
When the glue had dried, I tried to pry apart the plaster pieces with my utility knife. I can say that the glue is not the weak point. Cardboard to cardboard held much stronger than plaster to cardboard did.
So I didn't even bother to try the setting glue, and decided to go with Biltema's outdoor wood glue (because that's what I had at home).
