Hello! The old flagpole is going to snap from rot any day now. Planning to glue together a new one with an air gap. Any tips on glue? PU 1- or 2-component, marine epoxy?

Why not buy a finished one?

It's faster. ;)

PU is not wrong for such a project. But you must have too much free time if you're going to build a flagpole with an air gap...

If it's a 10-12 meter flagpole, it gets a bit tricky just to handle the pieces before gluing, you need a heck of a lot of clamps...

I can recommend Martinssons trä in Bygdsiljum, they make octagonal poles and plane the edges at 22.5 degrees, apply glue to the edges (and set up the octagon) and put the whole lot in a plastic bag and vacuum the air out.

Search online for how to glue a mast to a sailboat - it's basically the same thing as a flagpole. They are also used in aggressive environments. They are often glued with epoxy.

Thanks for the tips, luckily it's not 12 meters that need to be built :). It seems like it's between PU and epoxy,

Is it just a small facade flag?

Yes, around 5 meters I would guess!
