Gate lock

Wondering if you have any tips on good gate locks? I've tried both Jula and Habo on different gates but find them way too stiff. It can't be right that you have to use your whole body weight to press down the handle enough to open the gate?
What else could be wrong when the gate lock is so stiff?

Assuming you've tried with lubricating oil?
It would have been nice with a picture to look at.

We emailed Habo and they are replacing the gate lock, it shouldn't be so stiff after just one year.
There are no moving parts that can be lubricated, there's a spring in the handle.
