Galvanized metal connectors outdoors?

It seems like all the perforated plates and construction fittings are galvanized. How does that work outdoors, for example, in deck construction where the fittings are not painted over?

Hot-dip galvanized withstands outdoor climate well, unlike electro-galvanized.
Hot-dip galvanized can have very different quality so for visible details, I would buy good products, and maybe not at a low-cost store.
