Frozen timber... and moisture levels in winter?
Fairly cold outside (currently -15). Building a custom house for tf, and my general concern is about the wood and its storage. I don't think there's any danger at all, but one can't ask too much.
I'm partly wondering about storage. For space reasons, I'm storing about 3 tons of wood outside for tf. It's on pallets and under tarpaulin. Now that it's so cold, does it matter if the tarpaulin is all the way down to the ground? There shouldn't be too much moisture in these temperatures - neither from the ground nor the air?
What about the moisture content when it's winter and you're building with loose timber? The construction is indeed under a roof, so it's protected from precipitation, but the temperature is what it is. There will probably be some moisture in the structure that absorbs from the surroundings, but that can be dried out when the exterior shell is tight and the construction fan is turned on, right? Planning to do that before we insulate the entire structure with spray foam.

the winter is drier than you might think, you don't need to worry about the cold temperatures at least. I'm even changing the facade down here in Skåne now, no problemas except that my fingers take a bit of a beating.

Yes. As mats_o says, it's a good time to build frameworks. If only it weren't so cold on the hands. Because the gloves keep coming off and on all the time.
Oh yes, 16.3 minus now when I took the evening... felt quite a bit. Also building the frame, although I have the roof ready at least and some walls, so you can escape the worst of the wind...
