My wife claims that you should apply silicone in the pre-drilled hole before inserting a lag screw into the wooden facade. That sounds a bit excessive to me. Does anyone know the standard practice? We are mounting an antenna and a satellite dish.
Thank you, that was exactly my best argument, the one with the nail in the facade panel. But sometimes it's the same at home as at work, i.e., if I say something, it's questionable whether it's true, but if someone else (preferably a consultant at work) says the same thing, then of course it's true.
8*140 ??? Are you going to hang the house on the antenna??
Or is it far to something that "pulls"?
French bolts are quite weak "between" the threads, at least the smaller dimensions, so maybe that's why...
Maybe use a shorter (& possibly thicker?) bolt instead.
I've mounted many antennas but never broken a bolt.... By the way, brackets are often delivered with 8*50 (which I think is too short..) so go down in length...

I wouldn't mount antennas with my screws without securing a 3" plank. Just joined this "fralletråd" spontaneously. It seems the quality of Bauhaus screws is a bit hit or miss, as they require pre-drilling to prevent snapping right where the thread begins. For about ten per piece, you should get proper screws.
